Article – What are You Willing to Give Up for your Smartphone?

Back in December, the Law Marketing Portal reposted an article by Craig McGuire entitled, “What Do Beer and Chocolate Have to Do with Law Firm Marketing?”

The article focuses on consumer-focused law firms. The article starts with some statistics how important smartphone are to US consumers (including a significant willingness to give up beer and chocolate to do so). Other statistics cited include:

  • 80 percent do not leave home without their device
  • 66 percent access the Internet from their smartphone every day

He then connects this smartphone use to law firm marketing, in particular mobile technology.

A specific example is the problem with websites that are not optimized for mobile viewing; those site are very difficult to read and navigate. Lawyers need to ensure law firm’s website and attorney biographies are easily accessed with a mobile optimized website. Law firms need to fully optimize their websites in order to retain the audience that they previously sought with their original websites.
