Law360 – Firms Step Up Social Media Savvy To Build Business

Law360 reporter, Megan Leonhardt, recently wrote an article (subscription needed) on law firms using mobile technology for business development efforts as a means to take advantage of increased smartphone and tablet use. The article features two law firm apps.

First, in October, Baker & McKenzie released the firm’s free “Cross-Border Listings” app for the iPhone and iPad providing information for investment bankers, CFOs, in-house counsel and others as they consider stock exchange options on a global basis. The interactive app provides users with listing requirements for more than 25 stock exchanges, as well as the ability to view two jurisdictions on a side-by-side basis.

Second, Latham & Watkins has produced a series of  app resources called the “The Book of Jargon.” The  apps define common terms in corporate and bank finance, global restructuring, European capital markets & bank finance, and project finance.  The four volumes provide users a glossary of slang, legal and regulatory terms, and acronyms.

The article describes mobile technology as the “next frontier for business development” whose benefits can include new clients as well as firm brand recognition and media attention.
